May 2005 Newsletter On April 11th, 2005 at the Lacona VFW Hall, we held our monthly meeting. President Ed McGrew called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm and eight members were present for this meeting. The minutes from the March meeting were read. Ralph Miller made the motion to accept the minutes as read, with no amendments and Faron Cronk seconded it. All those present were in favor. Treasurer’s Report:
Membership Coordinator’s Report: 72 Memberships with 155 Members Our membership coordinator advised us that he has sent out all of the membership renewal forms in the mail. He also informed us that members have only until the 31st of May to get their membership dues back to us. This deadline was passed down to us from Nytro, Inc. and is in their by-laws. We will be sticking to that deadline, so be sure to get your membership renewals in the mail to us as soon as possible. Ralph Miller informed us of the details of our 1st chicken BBQ of the season. Member, Larry Rudd, will again do the honors of cooking the chicken and salt potatoes. This will take place on Sunday the 24th of April at the Ontario Tire Co. in beautiful downtown Sandy Creek on Main Street or better known as Route 11. Ralph said that we would need to have some of our members there to help out and get things going around 9:00 am. Chicken to go on sale around 12:00 noon. Ed McGrew said that our web-site administrator and member, Greg Hall, has now fixed the email contact on our web site. He has now made it so when someone is trying to email our club, then the email goes to the club’s president. Thanks Greg. Bills were presented to the members for approval. Faron Cronk had a postage bill of $37.00 for mailing out membership renewal forms and past newsletters. Ralph Miller made the motion to pay all the bills and Doug Cronk seconded it. All those present were in favor. Faron informed us that he should be picking up the new T-shirt order from Nytro, Inc. at the meeting their having on the 17th of April in Liverpool. He said that as soon as he does get them, he would get out the ones that he has owed to our new members, right away. Ed and Faron filled us in on what has been going on with Trail pass and their insurance issues. Seems that they have been shopping around for a new policy and it now looks like they are just about ready to sign on with a company. We are still planning on going with Trail pass and we will be setting up a time with them to go over our trails. We had hoped to have their forester come out on our work detail day, the 23rd of April, but it seems that she is busy on that day. We will be setting up another day for this to happen on. Faron told us that when we do sign up with Trail pass, our members would have the option of getting a Trail pass sticker for their ATV’s at a very reasonable discount. This sticker allows that person to ride on any Trail pass trails that they have listed on their web site. The cost would be $25 for each machine and you have to be a member of a club in good standings. Our membership coordinator will be our contact person for getting these stickers, once we have sign on with Trail pass. We hope to have this issue finalized sometime in May or June of this year. We talked about our work detail day and how we were going to be able to do any work on our trails without having any insurance at this time. We decided that everyone that shows up to work would have to sign a waiver of release. This waiver would be just like the one that we sign before we do our Adopt-a-Highway clean up. We are going to have a work detail on Saturday the 23rd of April. We will be meeting at the home of Ralph Miller at 8:30 am. Coffee will be piping hot and ready. Faron brought up for approval, to the members present, a final quote from our printer on our club ATV stickers and membership cards. He said that our printer would be staying right around the same price, from last year, of $190 for 250 ATV Stickers (which is the minimum that we have to purchase) and $20 for double-sided membership cards. Patty Miller made the motion for Faron to order the stickers and cards. Ed McGrew seconded it. All those present were in favor. Stan Miller advised us that our main contact with the County Department has been promoted and that he has been talking with other folks in regards to our Adopt-a-Highway clean up program. We are still going to be able to keep our section of Route 11. We decided then to have our 1st Clean up on Wednesday the 27th of April. We will meet at the home of Ralph Miller at 5:30 pm. Being that this will be the first clean-up since the snow has gone, we would very much like to have a good turn out of fellow members to help. We ask that members remember to bring their gloves with them. Meeting was adjourned at 9:10 pm. Upcoming Events / Rides: April 23rd, 2005: Work detail day. Meet at Ralph Miller’s place at 8:30 am.
