August Meeting:

Our August meeting / ride was held at the home of Dean and Joanne Clark on Saturday the 14th of August. We had 40 machines gather for this ride, with around 50 members and hopefully soon to be members. Mike McConnell led the pack to Redwood, where we gathered for our lunch and then we picked up the Rivergate Trail from there and headed into Philadelphia. All had a very enjoyable and fun ride. We got a chance to see some different scenery and wildlife. Not to mention the many different types of ice cream. Just ask Doug Cronk. Prior to our ride, we conducted our club meeting.
President Ed McGrew called the meeting to order at 10:20 am. Faron Cronk read the minutes from the July meeting. Mike Bellinger made the motion to accept the minutes as read, with no amendments, and Ralph Miller seconded it. All those present were in favor.

Membership Report:

92 Memberships with 195 Members. (25 memberships are still over due)

President Ed McGrew discussed with us on how we can go about getting sponsors for our club. He also wanted to know what would be a fair amount to charge for sponsorships. He also asked if we should consider putting up some membership boxes with our application at some area businesses. Motion was made by Ralph Miller to charge $50 to each business for an annual sponsorship fee. Gene Perry Jr seconded the motion. However, Faron advised us that we have certain guidelines to follow under NYTRO, Inc’s. By-Laws. He also advised us to table this until we can discuss this with the NYTRO, Inc. Board of Directors. We need to follow their by-laws until we can get our own by-laws approved by them. This suggestion was then tabled until our Board of Directors can get together to discuss this issue.

Faron Cronk discussed working on our Chapter’s By-laws. He said that he would take on this project and come up with a Rough Draft by our October’s Meeting. He would then provide a copy for each of our Board of Directors to review and to open for constructive discussion.

Patty Miller advised us that she had talked to the Lacona VFW Post Commander about us using their facilities for our monthly meetings through the winter months. It seems that they would be able to accommodate us on the second Monday of each month. Mike Bellinger said that he has tried to talk to several other businesses about us holding our meetings at their establishments, but nothing came through for him. A motion was made by Doug Cronk for us to start holding our monthly meetings at the Lacona VFW on the second Monday of each month, starting in October. Debbie Bellinger seconded it and all those present were in favor.

Faron talked about having a cut-off date for those that do not pay their membership dues on time. We have been keeping members on our mailing list for up to six months or better, who haven’t paid their dues on time. We talked about setting a cut-off date of the 1st of May of each year. Those that do not re-new their memberships by then, would automatically be dropped from our membership role. Ed McGrew made the motion to set the membership cut-off date to the 1st of May of each year and Faron Cronk seconded it. All those present were in favor.

Mike Bellinger then discussed the importance of us being safe on this ride. He advised us that we should always keep at least 2 to 3 wheelers in our sites behind us. Always make sure those behind you see you turn and that you use your hand signals. We should always ride with our headlights on, as that makes it easier for those looking to see you.

Chester Vrooman informed us that he had some Syracuse Sky Chief’s tickets and that if anyone would like some to see him after the ride.

We held a 50/50 Raffle:  $41 went to the club and $41 went to Kevin Helinger.

President Ed McGrew asked us if we should have our September’s meeting  / ride on the Oswego County ATV Club’s trails. He said that he would contact their President Steve Cronk and verify that we could ride their trails. We would be riding on Sunday the 12th of September at 10:00 am SHARP. We would meet at Little Lukey’s in Altmar on Route 13. All those present agreed to have our next meeting / ride there.

Motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:56 am was made by Aretha Manchester and seconded by Shawn Gallagher. All those present were in favor and were anxious to get riding.
