March’s Monthly Meeting: Meeting was held at the home of Aretha and Roger Manchester on the 13th of March at 1:00 PM. They provided those that showed some very delicious food and the accommodations were excellent for the considerable amount of members that did come. We would like to extend to the Manchester family a very big Thank-you and job well done.

20 members were in attendance that day and they were: Ralph & Pat Miller, Mike & Debbie Bellinger, Nancy & Ray Bouchard. Nancy & Bear Fox, David & Shelly Beyer (along with their new granddaughter) and Elizabeth Ward, Aretha & Roger Manchester, Mary & Dan Simmons, Faron Cronk, Ed McGrew, Stanley Miller, Roger Clark and Shawn Gallagher.

Meeting was called to order by President Ralph Miller at 1:10 PM. The minutes of the December 2003 meeting was read. Faron Cronk requested an amendment to the minutes, for a correction on the cost of the ATV Club Stickers. Due to the smaller amount of Stickers purchased the cost would increase to .76 cents each from the .33 cents that was previously told to us. Roger Clark made the motion for the minutes to be accepted, with the change and Stanley Miller seconded it. All those present were in favor.

Membership Report: 86 Memberships with 174 Members.

NEW BUSINESS: Faron brought two bills up for approval. One bill was for $150.00 to the Tech Editor Productions for re-establishing our website account which had expired and didn’t get renewed on time. Faron also had a bill for $39.90 for mailing of the membership renewal forms and sending out Membership cards and ATV Club stickers. Mike Bellinger made the motion to pay the bills and Roger Clark seconded it. All those present were in favor.

Faron also passed onto the club, monies from membership renewals of $305.00 that will be deposited into NYTRO of NNY’s account by Nancy Fox, our treasurer.

Mike Bellinger presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Greater Watertown Christmas Parade Committee. This certificate was for our participation in their parade this past November.

Pat Miller read an article she had clipped from the Salmon River Newspaper. The lady who wrote the article was speaking on behalf of the ATV community. She stated a lot of what each one of us would like to say, but didn’t know how.

A discussion in regards to the club’s tractor was brought up. It was felt, due to the more members being in the south, that we would move the tractor from Dave Beyer’s home to the home of our President Ralph Miller. This will enable us to get the tractor ready for us to use and also have for the parades coming up this year. Ralph will coordinate the move as soon as the weather cooperates. Dave Beyer informed us that the back blade on the tractor is on loan and will be returned to its rightful owner upon request.

Trail Coordinator, Ed McGrew, brought up a discussion on trail development. He stated that Ralph and him would be approaching and talking to some more landowners this spring about the club constructing trails on their property. He wanted to know that if they do have some success, if there would be enough members available to work on them. We assured him, if they get the trails, that members would help maintain them. We also talked about the possibility of us being able to construct a bridge across Lindsey Creek form our trail out of Community Park. We will have to get permission from the landowner and go from there.

President Ralph Miller informed us of some important dates from our ATV friends from the Oswego County ATV Club. On March 16th at 7:00 PM, they will be approaching the Town Board of Boylston to see about getting a couple of roads opened to help connect their trails. All are invited and should come and help support our fellow ATVer’s. Oswego County ATV Club will be holding their next regular club meeting at Lil’ Dominick’s on the 20th of March at 11:00 AM. This place is located at 1331 US Route 11 Hastings NY.  The Oswego County ATV Club has also invited us to their meeting on the 10th of April at the Altmar Fire Hall. This will be in regards to some ATV Rescue equipment that they have.

Faron passed out some copies of NYTRO INC’s BY-Laws for review by the board members. These will be reviewed and discussed at a later meeting. Faron also brought into discussion on whether or not our club would like to receive NYTRO’s monthly newsletter (that our newsletter is also in) or continue getting our own newsletter. Due to the additional cost of NYTRO, INC. mailing out newsletters, all those present felt that what we are doing at this time is enough for our members. Although, Faron did advise us that NYTRO, INC. is looking into emailing members a copy of their monthly newsletter and this would reduce the cost considerably. Faron will see if NYTRO, INC will send us at least one copy to our post office box, so we can have some idea as to what the other clubs are doing. Faron also informed us of a NYSORVA meeting that he went to on the 6th of March in Pulaski. NYSORVA is putting together a Growth Committee to help them fight for our rights as ATV riders. They are trying to revitalize the NYSORVA Organization with the help of other club members from across the state. They are also fully aware of the $45 dollar increase in the registration fees coming out of Albany and the one time funding for ATV Trail development. NYSORVA will be holding another meeting on the 18th of April at 9:00 AM in Canton, New York and Faron advised us that we should send two observers to this important meeting. Now is the time that each one of us needs to get involved. Contact your Legislature.

Stanley Miller, our Adopt-a-Highway Coordinator, informed us that our Club’s Signs are now in place. One is at the Oswego/Jefferson County Line going north on US Route 11 and the other is just south of Mannsville, also on US Route 11. Keep your eyes open for these and see how a Good Samaritan deed on our behalf gets recognized. We also decided to have our first Clean-up day for this year on the 6th of May. See our section CLUB RIDES/EVENTS for further details.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday the 25th of April at 9:30 AM. We will be gathering at Washington Park in Adams and going for a ride shortly afterwards. We ask that you bring a lunch and beverage along. Also bring your calendars along so we can plan other rides and parades coming up. For more info on the ride on the 25th, see our section CLUB RIDES/EVENTS.

Dave Beyer made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:00 PM and Mary Simmons seconded it. All those present were in favor.

July 16th - 18th, 2004 / Brasher Falls Get-Away Weekend. Mark these dates down on your calendars for this year.  Our President, Ralph Miller, is working with the Riverside Campgrounds and will be looking to reserve our area for this weekend getaway. We want to reserve all the sites and pay one lump sum, no matter how many are on each site. Some folks, this past year, ended up double paying for each site for the additional people that were on their site and we have found this to not be fair. The club will be paying for the sites up front and those that come and stay will need to reimburse the club. There will be some folks going up on the 14th and staying until the 21st. The club will only be reserving the two nights, those being the 16th and 17th.  We will try to organize some Fund-raisers, this spring, to help the club come up with the fees so we can pay up front. Any person or persons interested in helping or having an idea on how we can raise this money, please let us know.

FAB’s FACTS: I have now sent out to all the members an “Orange” card that is for your membership renewal into this fine organization. As of to date, I have received 21 renewals back to me.
