President"s
Corner:
Well, our riding
season is over for this summer. I believe after hunting season, there are a few
places a person can still ride. Although by then we usually have our snowmobiles
going and we ride those until the end of March.
The Christmas Parade is scheduled for November 30th in Watertown. I
think we should try to make a good showing. I've heard some good comments about
our parade riding this past summer.
I want to thank all the volunteers who helped with the Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up
Program. Our club signs have now been put up. One can be found at the
Jefferson/Oswego County line on Rte. 11. The other is just south of Mannsville
past the old River Valley Inn on Rte 11.
The 5 remaining NYTRO Chapters all met in Syracuse at the Holiday Inn on Oct. 25th.
This meeting was for the restructuring of the NYTRO Organization. We now have a
newly elected slate of officers for NYTRO, Inc. I believe they will do a good
job, but they also need our support. We need to organize all of the ATV Clubs
in New York State the same as the snowmobile clubs have done in the past. By
being united we will have a bigger voice in the governing processes.
Remember, this is your club, so please don't be afraid to come to a meeting and
voice your opinion. We need your input and assistance to keep this club going!
Hope to see you all at the parade in Watertown on November 30th, come
rain or shine or snow. Thank-You!
Your President: Ralph Miller
CLUB RIDES / EVENTS:
Regular Club Meetings: We have now decided on a schedule for our
meetings. We will be meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month at
7:00pm. The meeting place will be decided at each meeting. An email will be
sent out to members to inform them where the next meeting will be held.
November?s meeting will be held at the home of our President, Ralph Miller, on
November 13th at 7:00pm. Directions are as follows:
Directions for coming from the South:
Take Route 81 North to Exit 38. Turn right onto Route 11 South and go underneath
the 81 Bridges and take the next immediate right. This will be Sand Road, which
is a Dead End road. Go about 1/2 mile and on the left will be a Light and Dark
Brown house which will be the home of our President Ralph Miller.
Directions for coming from the North: Take Route 81 South to Exit
38. Turn right onto Route 11 North and go about 500 feet and take the next left.
This will be Sand Road, which is a Dead End road. Go about 1/2 mile and on the
left will be a Light and Dark Brown house which will be the home of our
President Ralph Miller.
November 30th: Christmas Parade
in Watertown will be on Sunday the 30th of November at 1:00pm. If
planning on attending you will need to be lined up by no later than 12:00pm. We
will be gathering on North Indiana Street, which is the third left pass Cheney
Tire that is located on State Street. If you are planning on going and need
more information, than you can contact our Vice-President Mike Bellinger at
(315) 785-6811.
July 16th to the 18th, 2004 /
Our Brasher Falls Get-Away Weekend. Mark these dates down on your
calendars for next year. Our President, Ralph Miller, will be contacting the
Campgrounds and will be reserving our area for next year. We will be reserving
all the sites and pay one lump sum, no matter how many are on each site. Some
folks, this past year, ended up double paying for each site for the additional
people that was on their site and we have found this to not be fair. The club
will be paying for the sites up front and those that come and stay will need to
reimburse the club. There will be some folks going up on the 14th and
staying until the 21st. The club will only be responsible for the two
nights, though. We will try to organize some Fund-raisers, next spring, to help
the club come up with the fees so we can pay up front. Any person or persons
interested in helping or having an idea on how we can raise this money, please
let us know.
Donations/Appreciations: Our club made a
$50 donation to the Town of Horicon in Brant Lake, New York. This donation was
to help them in their quest for legal riding in their area. We received a
?Thank-You? letter from their Town Supervisor Ralph Bentley. Our club also made
a $100 donation to a local Boy Scout Troop# 879 from Pulaski, New York. This
donation was to help them in being able to purchase a trailer to haul their
equipment in. The ?Fabulous One? went to a Donor Appreciation Dinner, that the
Boy Scouts put on and received a nice certificate from them for the club. They
will also be giving us some ?Free? advertising, by painting our NYTRO Logo on
the back of the trailer. Our club is and should always be open to any needs from
other organizations that need assistance. So if you know of any, please, let us
know.
FAB's Facts: The club has decided to come
up with a current membership club sticker. These stickers will be for your ATV,
so everyone will know what club you belong to and that you are a member in good
standings with this club. We are currently looking into the cost of this and it
looks like the cost is very minimal and we will more than likely be including
them in with your Membership Renewals. You will, however, have to provide the
club with a Copy of your valid Registration and Insurance for each ATV
that you need a sticker for. Our club renewal time is coming up soon and we will
be giving out more information on this at that time.
At our last meeting, on the 19th of October, the Board of Officers
went over the list of members who have not paid this year's dues and have now
officially scratched these folks from our club roster. If you receive this
Newsletter by mail or email, than you were not one of the unlucky ones.
We currently have around 200 members and are finding only a small handful of
these members are doing any and all the work. We are seriously looking for more
involvement from other members or we are not too sure as to the future of this
club. We need new and fresh ideas to keep this club moving along. So come to a
meeting and voice your opinion.
Club Tractor: Our Club has a chance to
receive a $500 advertising donation from Widrick's Implements, after we paint
the tractor and put their logo on it. This project will not get completed, it
seems, this year. Due to the lack of involvement and coordinating of this
project, we will need to address this issue, early next spring. This leads one
to ask the question Has anyone been in touch with our
Communications Director?? The club certainly misses him and his
constructive and knowledgeable input.
Trail Pass: This adventure has now been
placed on hold until next spring. We are currently keeping an eye on these folks
and how they handle themselves and situations that are brought to their
attention, from other clubs who have joined them. Our trails officially close on
the 1st of October and do not open until the 1st of April.
Due to this, we have decided to try to work with some more landowners,
throughout the winter, to try and create some more trail routes and plan our
trail maintenance for next spring.
