President’s Corner

May 3rd ride!!!! Our Rivergate trail ride is coming soon! This is a great trail to come out and ride. Skill required is easy to moderate, which makes this a good opportunity to get the whole family out and enjoy a day with family and friends.

Ride Details: We will be riding from Philadelphia to Clayton. We are meeting at the small strip mall located in Philadelphia. Which is located on Route #11, just past the school and before you reach the village. We will be starting the ride at 10:00 a.m. Sharp, so please arrive well before that to give everyone time to get unloaded and prepped for the ride. We will ride to Clayton along the Rivergate Trail and once in Clayton we will be visiting the Recreational Expo sponsored by the Rivergate Wheelers ATV Club. There will be food available at the Expo for purchase and at that time we will enjoy some lunch and maybe have a short meeting while we enjoy the displays. Once everyone is ready to go we will ride back to Philadelphia for the trip home. Total mileage should be about 50 to 60 miles on your quad.

Directions: From the south take Interstate #81 to exit #48 (Route 342). At the exit go right onto 342 East. Just off the exit you will come to the intersection of 342 and 37 at the light (Longway’s Truck Stop). Continue straight thru on 342 east to the next light. This will be the Intersection of 342 and State Route # 11. Turn Left onto Route #11 North. Route #11 will take you right to Philadelphia. The school will be on your right, and the strip mall where we will be unloading at will be on the right just past the school. Hope to see you all there!

Insurance Meeting. There was a meeting in Albany concerning our inability to get insurance. This meeting was put together by our State Association NYSORVA and was to try to get the state to help us with this crisis. From our club, Ralph Miller and David Beyer attended to voice our concerns and show our support. Agencies represented included the NYS Insurance Commission, NYS DEC, NYS Department of Parks and NYSORVA. Several clubs were represented, as was the Jefferson and Lewis County Legislators. Also a representative from the Office of Assembly, Dierdre Scozzafava, was in attendance. We still have a lot of work to do, and we really need to support NYSORVA if we ever want to make forward progress and have the chance to get insurance again! Now is a good time to get on the phone with your County Legislator, State Assemblyman, as well as your State Senator. Make a call and let them know the importance of this crisis.
