President’s Corner:
Well the holidays are over and I want to wish a happy New Year to all our members! We want to start this New Year off on the right foot with a get together at the president’s house! There will be a cookout at the home of Ralph and Patricia Miller on Sand Place Road in Mannsville. The date is set for Saturday February 15th at 1:00 p.m. The main course will be Venison and Turkey. All that you have to bring is a dish to pass, your own table service and any SPECIAL beverage that you might enjoy. Feel free to call me with any questions you may have at (315) 387-3589.

We have a lot of great things planned for the new year and hope that many of you will be able to come out and join us for the rides and good time to be shared by all. Don’t forget our great overnight camping and riding trips as well and be sure to put the dates on your calendar. We will also be attending many local parades this year, and getting involved in other things that will benefit our community and us as riders.

I would also like to take this time to ask that each member try to encourage at least one friend or fellow rider to join the club this year. Bring them to a ride or parade (maybe even to the party on Saturday the 15th of Feb.) Lets remember that our club is only as good as you the members and we need you all to make it work.

Your President: Ralph Miller

Club Rides!

Rides for this season are being planned. We have some dates for upcoming events and we will be posting more as they are scheduled or we hear of them from other clubs. If you have any questions please contact one of our Ride Planners.

Trail workdays: Right now we have three days scheduled for trail work. These days are for trail work and trail inspections. They are April 5th and 6th as well as April 19th. Hope you can come out and help us clear trails, put up signs and ride a little.

May 3rd 2003 Rivergate trail ride: Our annual spring ride along the scenic Rivergate trail is always a good time. This years ride will coincide with the Recreational Expo being held at the Clayton arena. We will be able to stop and check out the displays at the show on our path along the ride.

May 2nd thru May 4th, Clayton Recreational Expo: A great place to come out and see all the new machines, gear and supplies. A good time to get a good deal on that new riding gear, or just check out the machines and see what you can dream for next! Our club will also have a display set up, to hand out club information and try to promote us as well. Hope to see many of the member’s stop by during our ride!

June 2nd thru June 8th, Americade Motorcycle Rally: For those of our members who also enjoy two wheels on the street. This is your chance to get out on the road and become a part of the biggest touring rally in the United States.

July 18th thru July 20th, Brasher Falls Weekend: It was such a great trip, good riding, trails, and company so it’s been decided to do it again. The dates are Friday July 18th through Sunday July 20th. We plan on setting things up like last year, staying at the Riverside Campgrounds right in the middle of town, and riding from there. For those that missed it last year, the campground is located right on the river, so bring your fishing stuff and swimming stuff if you like. There are also canoes available for rent.

Hatfield / McCoy Trail System Trip: Nothing is firm on our bigger trip yet this year. More discussion will be held at the Party on February 15th, so come out and give your input so we can make plans. This might be a trip to the Famous Hatfield / McCoy Trail system in Southern West Virginia. You can check out the official website for the trail system at www.trailsheaven.com. This ride would be more than just an overnight due to the travel, maybe leave on a Wednesday and return on a Sunday. Other possibilities include maybe riding in Pennsylvania, instead.

Of course we will still have many different one-day rides. To include a ride on the Rivergate Trail in Clayton, a couple rides on Tug Hill, maybe a ride in the Brantingham Lake area and I am sure we can come up with others as well! Be prepared and come to a meeting to share your input!

Other local events: Such as the great Newton Falls Poker Run, Adirondack ATV Club rodeos and Bald Rock Lodge Poker Run are events we are still waiting to get dates for. As soon as we have the dates for other local events we will be adding them to the list of events to go out and enjoy.

NYTRO’s Tractor!

We have our tractor, an International 424 with a loader. We have received the rest of the funding from the County matching grants program, and are now in the process of having the tractor made ready for the working season ahead. This is a great asset to our club and will be a great advantage to us in maintaining and developing trails in the region. There is much work to be done now, clearing and signing trails for the 2003 riding season, to include the routes thru the county property that we are responsible for. I hope to see you all out and helping with all we have to do for the coming year!
