| A
Word of Thanks!
I would like to start this month’s Newsletter by mentioning some folks that have made a big difference to our club recently. As many know we are working to purchase a Used Tractor with Loader for trail work. We have been awarded a grant from Jefferson County to cover some of this cost, but it will take a lot of our own club money as well. One of our New Members Mr. & Mrs. Frank Pace just sent us a very generous cash donation toward our tractor fund. It puts us a step closer to our machine. We also received a large donation from one of our dealer sponsors that is also in need of Thanks! Waite Motor Sports in Adams sent us a donation that will also go toward our tractor fund. Waite’s is our local Polaris Dealership and a great place to go for all your parts, accessories, and riding gear, both summer and winter. They have a full line of Polaris ATV’s, Snowmobiles, and Motorcycles. Be sure to stop by their Store in Adams for all your ATV needs. Stop in and say hello to the great helpful staff, and let them know you are a NYTRO Member as well! We are not done yet! A word of thanks needs to also go out to Marvin Micek for his generous donation of a load of Telephone poles, he even loaded them up for us, and 10 now are ready for use on bridges in the Southern Jefferson, Northern Oswego County area. These poles will go a long way in our efforts to make safe and friendly trails for our members. Other materials have been donated for our bridge building efforts by Castor’s Sawmill in Sandy Creek. Mr. Castor has been very helpful to the club in our efforts as well, and if you stop by or see him, let him know you appreciate all the help he has given our club! Without the contributions
and donations we could not do many of the things we have done. This list
is not complete, all our active members need to be thanked, and without
the tireless efforts of our directors and workers we would be no place.
Signs, Bridge Building, Trail clearing, and landowner contacts! Thanks
to all of you! (You know who you are!)

Remember this is a fund raising event for our club, and we need to do a good job for Adventure Tours. September 7th 2002, Newton Falls Poker Run: Sponsored by the Sports and Recreational Club. Our legislation has not made much of an advance, but never fear, that does not mean it, is time to give up! Our legislation may not have moved and that indicates we need to keep the pressure up. If you have not mailed your comments to the sponsors, send in your cards, letters or make a phone call! As for the Association there is still much that needs to be done and We need to make sure that Upstate New York region is represented in this great organization. Right now the organization is in need of regional directors to help guide the local action and work with the clubs and county associations etc. For information or to get involved please contact Alex Ernst at alex@nysorva.org or call (518) 756-3366 Fund Raising! We still need to keep up our efforts to raise money as we work for our future, and the future of the sport we all enjoy! We are lucky in being paid members of our state association NYSORVA. This membership affords us the opportunity to participate in the State Raffle Program. This year we are Raffling off a new 2002 Arctic Cat 375cc 4 x 4 ATV. There are also 10 other runners up prizes. The tickets are $5.00 each and our club keeps $2.50 for each ticket sold. We are starting with 300 tickets for our chapter. Lets sell as many as we can, if you would like tickets contact David M. Beyer at (315) 782-5280. Last year we made about $800 for our club, lets do even better this year! WERA (Western Edge Recreation Association) There was a meeting Wednesday June 12th at the Mannsville Fire hall concerning the trails in the State Forest. We have access to some of the motorized trails now but would like access to the woods trails as well. A lot of ATV people were at the meeting, more than any other user group, and as usual we have to work things out through the Unit Management Plan for this forest when it comes up. Be sure to attend the meetings for the UMP when they come up so we can gain the additional trails that we need. Town Board Meetings! We are working forward with several towns at this point. We have not given up on the town of Ellisburg, and a Public hearing might be held soon. We currently have requests in to the town of Lowville and the town of Rutland, and are working on one for the town of Harrisburg at this time. We will make requests to any towns that we have members in that are willing to attend the meetings and work to see the requests through. Oswego County Planning Department: We still have not heard any information back from the Oswego County Planning department, so lets not forget, it is not to late to write a letter to let the County know what you think they should do with the County owned Rail Road Right away that they own. They own several miles that would make great Multi-use trails; the main section that affects us right now is the railroad property from Sandy Creek to Pulaski. Please take the time to drop a line to County Planning department at: Oswego County Planning Department
Letters are our best forms of support for the development of trails so please take a moment to write a few lines in support of ATV, Snowmobile and multi use trails. It affects the future of your chosen form of recreation; please don’t rely on others to do it for you. Now is the time to speak up and let your legislators know your feelings! Membership
